Dog behaviour is challenging for owners and dogs alike as a lot of communication is misinterpreted by both.

LOLA                                                                                                    Lola is a great dog but has a few issues like not to happy with men, but great with dogs. She hates any hairdryers, hoovers and she hates changes in the home. I feel she could be slightly autistic as she has the same sort of symptoms. Lola can be great one minute then you move something she then knows of the change and gets quite nervous. When she goes to the vets now I go with her owner otherwise it is unbearable with barking and lunging. When I go Lola is totally different so now I will go with Lola and owner until the owner has Learnt to handle her in this situation. Lola is work in progress but she's doing very well so there's hope for all dogs no matter the behaviour problems. Case's like this can't be rushed otherwise you can make them worse. I'm slowly working with her picking off the issues one by one and the owners are happy with the changes.

TOGO                                                                                                   Togo is a 2 year old Siberian Husky in the picture opposite, he had a few issue one was pulling on the leash and he was strong was bad for the shoulders, also he didn't know how to meet other dogs, so dog reactive, but now he loves to walk loose leash and meet any dog without trying to be dominant. Togo is a beautiful boy and is enjoyable to work with. My dog Oliver contributed to Togo's success as he was with me teaching him that not all dogs are bad and taught him how to play. Togo has been making some amazing progress and and is becoming a well behaved dog and well mannered one to. He can be walk anywhere now even in shops where he had to learn to be calm and look to me for guidance and not take things off shelves. His owner is so proud of him and so am i as he is so eager to learn.

Some dogs just need a little guidance.

Dog Behaviour Modification

Dog/Human Reactive

When it come to Leash reactivity the dog can be frustrated by us holding them back and the more you hold them back the more aggressive they become. There are a few ways to deal with this problem. We have  human reactivity that could come under resource guarding, until the dogs are assessed. Their past could  contribute to their behaviour as well.

Resource Guarding

Resource guarding is a danger to anyone the dog may come into contact with. The problem is the dog feels it needs to protect its self or the person that feeds it and looks after it, even toys or bedding. This behaviour can be seen in street dog as its a means of survival. The dog will protect its food bowl generally first then more and more of its items as time goes on.

Aggression

Aggression is quite rare but the word is thrown around a lot but it can be miss diagnosed. It can be resource guarding or Reactivity so what some people would misinterpret as aggression could cause the dog to be destroyed so should be assessed for all. There may be medical reasons to why the dog is suddenly behaving aggressively to so a vet check may be in order.

Lizzie was seen as an aggressive dog and couldn't ever walk with another dog.

Lizzies story is like many Staffordshire Terrier dogs. People look at them and see a fairly powerful dog with an angry look and a image made by people that just want a dog for protection and in some sad cases they teach them to fight which is sickening. Lizzie is  is an amazing dog and loves human contact but has been attacked by dogs with inconsiderate owners who let their dogs off leash when they have no recall. Lizzie has always been on leash, yet blamed for being aggressive which I proved wasn't the case. Her owners thought she would never be walked with other dogs. I have proved she can with my Oliver and another dog called Leila which is a Frenchie cross pocket bully. Lizzie is and will be work in progress as you cant rush behaviour problems like these as she has to learn to trust her owner to keep her safe and to have trust in other dogs .
